BINGO to benefit the South Wood County Humane Society

On Thursday November 6, 2014  the Wisconsin Rapids Elks Lodge will be hosting a BINGO night to benefit the South Wood County Humane Society. Proceeds will support the shelters adoptable pets. There will be regular bingo plus raffles, animal education and even some adoptable pets on site! A 20 game sheet is the normal base game. The 20 game pack is $20.00 and there are different prize levels paid out each game.

We’re all set, with another terrific line up of shorts of all genres, including comedy, thriller, biography, documentary, fantasy and sci-fi! We have three great feature-length films this year as well! These award-willing films are from right here in Central Wisconsin, the mid-west, Spain, France, Switzerland, Japan, Columbia, and Cuba! Viewings are in five locations, and two different weekends: Friday, October 24 & Saturday October 25 in Amherst at the Lettie Jensen Community Center and at the New Visions Gallery in Marshfield; Friday, October 24 in Stevens Point at the Dreyfus University Theater at UWSP and in Wausau at the Center for the Visual Arts; and in Wisconsin Rapids on Friday, November 7 & Saturday, November 8 at the Gilbert and Jaylee Mead Auditorium.

All shows start at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students, $15 for a weekend pass.

The Heart of Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a Holiday Craft, Art & More Show from 9:00 am-3:00 pm at Alexander Middle School along with some children’s activities. In addition, to the citywide Nekoosa Area Hometown Christmas celebration which includes:

Breakfast with Santa (Santa is sponsored by Domtar) from 8:30-10:30 am at the Retirement Community of Nekoosa. Breakfast includes pancakes, sausages, juice and coffee. Cost is $7.00 for adults and $3.00 for children ages 6-12, children ages 5 and under are FREE. Have your picture taken with Santa!

Children’s Story Time and Cookie Decorating from 10:30-11:15 am and 11:30 am-12:15 pm at the Charles & JoAnn Lester Library.

Wagon Rides from 11:00 am-3:00 pm at Alexander Middle School. Come enjoy a stroll on the horse drawn wagon ride!

Nekoosa Fire & Ambulance will be hosting an Open House from 1:00-4:00 pm Hot cider provided by Women’s Auxiliary. Children can come explore the emergency vehicles!

Good Ol’ Spirit of Christmas from 4:30-5:00 pm at Thompson Park – Market Street, Nekoosa. Music provided by Heid Music. Santa will arrive at about 4:45 pm for park lighting!

Christmas Parade will begin at 5:15 pm at Good Fellas and end at the Nekoosa Library in downtown Nekoosa. We will be collecting non-perishable food items during the parade, please bring your donation to the parade and place it in one of the shopping carts throughout the parade. This will be used toward the kids backpack program! The Parade Route will be starting in front of Goodfellas on 1st street turning right onto Market Street and turn left on the Point Basse Avenue and then right onto Buehler Avenue ending at the Nekoosa Library.

Holiday Fireworks at 6:00 pm (sponsored by Ho-Chunk Gaming of Nekoosa and Riverview Medical Center) Join us after the fireworks for hot-chocolate and cookies at the Retirement Community of Nekoosa sponsored by Domtar!
